After Dark in the Park: The Forest in the Pit Crater: A Tale of Ancient Hawaiʻi is Tuesday, August 6 from 7 p.m. - 8 p.m. at Kīlauea Visitor Center Auditorium in Hawai‘i Volcanoes National Park. Hear how former park ecologist, David Benitez, along with multi-agency teams, rappelled into the Kahuku Pit Crater and how their research is used today to restore rare and endangered native plants throughout the park.  Part of Hawai‘i Volcanoes’ ongoing After Dark in the Park programs and co-sponsored by the Friends of Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park. Free event. Park fees apply.
